pulled my lower unit and mid, my lower mounts are a hard plastic or "composite" are these solid mounts or just stock merc v6 mounts? was going to put solid alum. mounts in. Thankx, Gary

I've never seen composite mounts, so somebody else will have to answer that. Are you sure they're not aluminum that's been anodised?
You should NEVER do any solid mounts unless you do all four, or either have a one piece plate for the top 2. Having 2 solid and 2 flexable mounts can cause things to break.

so kurt your still alive, thats good, leave to Gene to come out with some solid plastic mounts, guess I wont have to change them then, later, Gary, by the way gene is racemans favorite parts purveyor (G FORCE), just kidding race, and they do appear to be plastic

also I thought someone else made composit mounts, like L&S or some other well known company? Gary

Porta Products still makes them. We should be handling them soon. :cool:
RM is correct about changing all of them. If you are considering changing, why not put in solid motor mounts?? Big difference in performance and sayety. Also, IMHO it will save some wear and tear on your transome, but this is just my opinion from seeing my motor before the solid mounts and then after.
BTW, rickracers also carries the solid mounts- that is where I got mine.
