OMC block ID?

What year is a block numbered 335050 019? This is a 3.0 V6 Looper. Will the crank work with my late 80s lower unit shaft? Were the splines changed in around 92 or 93, or was it when the two piece shafts came around? Thanks for any help.

I have never had any luck ID'ing a block by the numbers stamped on it. You can call your local OMC dealership and ask, but they will most likely tell you that you HAVE to have the serial # plate. One thing you can look at is whether or not the block has been fingerported. In 93', all the J/E 3.0 liter blocks came fingerported from the factor. I'm not sure, but I believe that was also the same year they went to the closed deck design. Hope this helps!:cool:

Dominator, that does help. I was told it was a 92 or 93, but the guy wasn't sure. It is factory finger ported, and is a closed deck, so I figure it is a 93 from what you say. Thanks for the info.
