OK, I know they're not the BEST trucks out there, and I know they are a bit outdated, but GM is basically giving them away now, and I get the GM Employee discount on top of that. I've searched the net like crazy and can't find any recent reviews of them.

Does anyone know of any good wesites for reviews, or care to offer personal opinions? I am thinking of the ZR2 off-road package, but haven't drove one to see what it drives like compared to the regular suspension.

Cheers, DB

I've always liked them, and the benchmark i like to use is "are there old one's still on the street?" and there are a ton of them out there still!

they are great little trucks, especially the newer ones. my 89 had 200,000+ miles on the all original engine, it got wrecked (not by me) my 94 has 194,000 and counting, still runs good. :)

quite reliable frt end is a little weak ball joints seem to prematurely wear out but other than that they are pretty good

Thanks guys..I heard that about the ball joints....but they are being offerred so cheap now (last year for them)..that I factored that into my ongoing costs.

Anyone know much about the ZR2 off road package? Some things I have read indicate that the ride is too rough..and not to bother.. :(

id go with the zr2- the chassis is beefier, makes for a better towing platform.

I have a 2004(OK, the future wife does), 2 wheel drive 2 door, 4.3. Great little truck, the exaust rattles a little, but other than that seems fine. I had a Astro Van for around 150,000 miles, same drivetrain, until I wrecked it, but never had 1 single problem with it, so we decided on the blazer over other models for that reason.

Now, if I could convince her to let me put a hitch on it, I could trade my Z-71 in on the Vette :D

My wife drives a 2003 Jimmy SLS 4dr. It has 72 000 kms on it about 45 000miles. Pretty good truck all around. The only problems we have had have been with the heater not returning to the floor vent and the ****ty seats. They are just plain uncomfortable. This being said the olderones had better seats. We had a 1998 SLT 4 dr.we bought new and put a 100000 miles on it with very few problems. Did brakes and front end work on it and thats about it.My friend wife is still driving it. They ran it out of coolant or the coolant froze and they cooked the motor. They redid the motor and are still driving it.
My mom had an '89 and a '92 4 dr when they came out. The newer ones were much better. The ZR 2 is definately cool. We would have got one but 2drs is not great with three kids and the 2 dr rear seat only sits 2. I don't like the spare tire on the out side . It blocks your vision, can be a real problem towing a boat especially one with a short trailer tounge and they rattle.
I wish they had made a ZR 2 4dr V8 6 spd.now that would have been something.

theres supposed to be a SS trailblazer with AWD/6 speed or 5 speed auto, and a 6.0L ls2 being released next year... we'll see if GM lets us down. :o

edit, nope, check it out http://www.chevrolet.com/trailblazerss/

Thanks Guys...I went a drove a ZR2, and I agree with the comment about the tire on the outside..other than that I liked it, but that tire blocks your entire view.

I priced out another one pretty optioned out without the ZR2 package...power everything, sunroof, CD player etc....26 grand Cdn out the door...thats 9k below list...thinking thinking....

I think they are great trucks! My wife drives an 2002 2 door Jimmy and I have an 2003 Sonoma pickup ZR2. My dad has owned three 4 door Jimmy's also. No real problems except for the normal wear items and the gas guages are a little funky when they get below 1/4 tank. Personally I would go for the ZR2 package, it does not roll as much when turning and feels more stable on the highway. Both due to the wider stance and different suspension of the ZR2. My wife wishes that we had of got her Jimmy with the ZR2 package. Plus the ZR2's just look awsome!
