Nice Guys,

I am trying to figure out how to fit a new one into the budget, and not have to use it to commute in every day. Maybe once the boat is complete. :D

I had a 71 454 a few years ago. Dick Gulstrand helped me set it up. It handled well for a big block.

i had 15 vetts in my day, the few i regret selling are, 63 split window, 72 wit a 454 crome bumpers, 65 327 conv., 65 coupe also, i sold em all for penuts, back in the 70s 3500$ was a lotta money, and all these cars were perfect. another car i had i still miss is a 67 ss chevelle, 396, 375 hp 4 spd m22, 411 gears, it was gold, wit black interior, man could this car go , holy ****...
that chevelle was flawless too...craiger 4 inch rims in the front, rear had had 10 inch racemaster slicks, 9 lbs a air. back in 1970 we rode wit slicks, this car came outa the hole you would get a fuken nose bleed, in those years any way, today there is alot a power to be gotten also. that 67 chevelle was a hot item .....

I'll be picking up a 1975 Convertible w 40000 miles on it in the next few weeks. A friend of mine has owned it for 20 years. 15 years ago when I had a Corvette restoration shop I detailed the motor and chassis. The car has only been driven about 500 miles since. I'll try to post some pictures when I get it home.My dad still has our 65 in Fla. red conv. 327/365 hp NCRS top flight.
We had a 90 ZR 1 and a 65 396 amongst others over the years.

I still think TPIs are the coolest looking SB motors ever...

except for the lt5, and IF i ever own a vette, thats what it is going to have!

I bought the first ZR1 around here in 1990 (contracted it a year earlier). Later in the year I had a chance to buy a 90 Callaway that a local doctor bought, kept 6 mos and traded on an NSX. My Callaway would NOT ONLY blow the doors off my ZR1, but had a HUGE punch when it got on boost, compared to the ZR's relatively flat powerband. I think you'd like some of the newer engines better.

for all out performance on the street, I love the gen 3s... what an awesome engine these things are. One of the gto guys I know here in ftmyers is putting 450HP to the ground with heads/cam/headers and intake tube. $3000 for 150hp more. thats on a n/a 25mpg Daily driver  he could have went with a bigger "street" cam and gotten even more.

after this action is painted, attention is going to my car, heh heh...

I love the looks of tpi too, put some shorter runners on there or siamese them and you can get ok results with them too. My dad already wants to get his to 500hp  To me 345is just fine but I guess I don't drive it everyday either :D

Raceman,
You got radials or biasplys on the 60?

They're Coker radials on that car. It's basically a driver, with real nice paint and interior, but somebody replaced the 283 with a 65 model 300 horse 327, and not detailed underneath. I've got 2 4's for it and everything else to make it cosmetically correct under the hood, but I'm gonna leave the 327 in it. My 59 and 62 will be dead NCRS correct when I get them done.

Thanks Raceman,
I've got old biasply tires on mine and it handles like a canoe on stilts. Was looking to get a report from someone with Cokers or Diamondback replica whitewall radials. I'm due to buy tires soon. Do you like the way it drives on radials?

It made a different car out of it. For everyday drivin' you can't beat em. I've got the 775 Firestone Repops on my 67 427 car and the F70's on my 69's (all non radial) and they ride remarkably good also, but the early tires for a straight axle didn't seem to cut it if you're actually gonna ride in em. As a side note, I've bought stuff from Coker for years and they're a first class outfit. The ship same day, even if it's a tire and wheel mount/balance combo, and I've never had a problem with em.

Raceman How are all the other vettes and project cars coming?

Very slow so far, but that's fixin' to change. After several years of not makin' much progress on any of em I'm gettin' back going on several at the same time. I put fress racegas in the L88 this week and drove it around for about half an hour for the first time in a year and it kinda got me fired back up. The Vettes probably won't be at the top of the list, except for getting the motor back in the 67, but I'm fixing to get hard after the LS6 El Camino and the 442 should have most of the paint work finished by the end of next month. As soon as I pick it up the guy's promised to get focused on the Chevelle which has been in his back room for 6 or 8 months now.

Since I've sold a couple of boats the cars are about all I've got to get excited over.
