Have been avoiding computer land to get some stuff done.

I hatched an egg a few months ago and so far the cowl is growing pretty well.
Really this is just the plug and HOPEFULLY is almost done.
Then the rubber mold and then the actual cowl.
Plus the pan.... and on and on.

Mostly the design comes from function and not stylixed.... too much :D
Mininum size was attempted and the swept back top means the ECU has to either replaced or relocated under the horn, starter just clears ( I hope) as does the flywheel and head corners.
Bulge at the front and sides is the cold air induction sealed, kind off to the air horn and lets engine noise out the sides- instead of the front.

Bulges at the top where to relieve the big blocky apperance as was the tiny bulge running the length of the bottom, both do serve to strengthen the thing though.

Not shown is the crest that will be cast from clear plastic. Runs the whole length of the top front to back and looks a bit like a lobster tail.
This is 2 things.
An anchor light
Air induction for cooling any building heat under the cowl. The flywheel is the pump. (Tesla blower style)
The anchor l

Oh and the rigging hose part is where the cowl breaks, these stay on the pan.

The black don't really show the shape or the gill intakes so here is a sanding/filling in progress ( which isn't done yet) the black was to fine tune the small spots and check its shape.
Top bulge to painted like an air sack and the gills either silver or gold, or both.
Body to be black with a bit of cromalusion

The groove in the intake gills was for a template guide. These were used in several places to shape the thing a bit more exact. You can see the filled groove in the front.

Now back to sannnnnnding. :(

I got side tracked in the spring. Work around the house and work on the garage. Basement shop....
Vette needed to be moved so that evolved into finally fixing it.
The mold on the plug didn't work and have to redo it... some day.

The Vette broke the rear spindle 7 years ago. Turns out the right one is shot so redoing all the rear stuff. Nickel plating it so it don't rust again.
Good thing is I should be able to put the boat in the garage this winter.
Amazing thing is this car that sat started in less than 1 rotation after all this time. Did change the gas and oiled the engine. I wish all my engines started as easy.
Putting C5 wagon wheels on it. 18" rear and 17" front. They do fit and I got them free.

Some of the plated stuff. half shafts and strut rods.

This is all painted and ready for reinstalling all the new and plated stuff. But I got a hitch in the plating process.

The "good" right side with a spun bearing.

The bad left one that was rebuilt with a twisted spindle.
thats the cowl plug in the back.

I wonder why it broke?
And then in the winter along with the boat stuff I have to disassemble some engine stuff to plate it and install fuel injection. The engine compartment rusted up.

I did get to go to the glen though and gots to see the indy cars. VERY LOUD.

I do have to get some of the boat stuff done before I forget how it works. Adding pnuematics and don't want to figure it all over again.
Maybe 2006 I'll have both Vettes working.
