i have been looking at many jack plates. i was looking at the detwiler change on the water manual style. i really like the look of it. i really like the on the water adjust feature. are these any good?

I had NO trouble what so ever with mine..had a 300 Promax hanging on 14 inches set back..I liked the dial for recall- -reference on the hieght setting..very handy for me anyway,was full hydr. set-up....IMHO

Get a Bob's and be done with it.

can you give me some details on why you dont care for them? i was looking at a bobs convertable. i guess im in between the two.

Hi Illmattic, if you want some more information about the jackplates, do a search for jackplates and/or Detwiler on this site and you'll find some more comments.

As I mentioned over on the Checkmate board, I bought one of the Detwiler's and I based that decision in part by some of the feedback I saw here when I did the search.

I only thing I heard bad about them was from my brother who owns a small outboard repair shop,was that fishing down the river hear in Venice,La interfirence from ship electronics can cause plate to go up or down on its own.
I personally have a Bob's and like it. Its reliable and fast. My brother has one also and no trouble. If you buy a bob's I personally would locktight the bolts that hold the cross bars to the side plate's. I saw these fall out before and twist the ram piston like a snake.

hey thanks guys. i ended up getting a bobs. it was a hundred less than the detwiller.
