Anyone familiar with the Mississippi River in that stretch? Navigability? Law enforcement? Facilities? Can you waterski safely? Thanks for any input.

Dude:
I have friends in Memphis and they all go boating at Pickwick Lake, about 1 hour east of Germantown on Hwy. 57. Been there
many times myself. Hot rodders there are mostly of the offshore
type as Pier 57 is there. The "Waterfall" is the hot spot if you go.
The Mississippi, can't help you there.
About 2 hours away, east on I-40 is beautiful KY Lake/TN River
with great facilities and awesome water.
3 hours east, you have 2 lakes (Old Hickory/Percy Priest), and
the Cumberland River right here in NashVegas.
The prettiest lake in TN (just my opinion) is Center Hill, just off
I-40 near Cookeville TN. Clean, clear water, waterfalls, incredible
facilities. Some of my friends prefer Dale Hollow. It's very nice too.
Regards,
Steve Z;)

Ron,

I used to live in Memphis. You didn't mention what kind of boat you have, but unless it is a big one, I would stay out of the river. The current is much stronger and faster than it looks from a distance. I was out once with a friend in a 24 foot boat and seeing whole trees come floating at you is a little unnerving. If you damage your prop or lower unit on submerged trash (there is plenty), you may see New Orleans .

In Miss. there is Arkabutla Lake (muddy most of the time) and Sardis (much better). I never went over to Pickwick, but I heard it is really nice.
