Check out all of the hard work BK (Val Collins) has done in her new position with APBA. This site should be very informative!

according to the first page intro.
BK states:
""The American Power Boat Association (APBA) is the sole governing body for all power boat racing in the United States, ""
Hey Val, don't forget your friends at ODBA, AOF and the rest of the world!
Connie
Well, anyone who actually knows me, knows I LOVE boat racing, any kind of racing. Indoor, outdoor, nodoor...
That includes APBA, ODBA, TTRA, SPORT, IHBA, SASS, HBRA (Havasu Barney Racing) You name it ~ i LOVE it! One year I even went to an AOF race FOR my birthday! It's true! I met Connie's husband there.
You won't find "BK" bashing any other clubs. Ever. Racers are racers everywhere & I consider them all my family.
As for the statement Connie wrote in "quotes" above was not written by "BK". "BK" is not APBA's webmaster.
Instead, "BK", aka Valerie, wrote the "news" story on the following page, compiled the current television guide, found links for all APBA advertisers and dozens more links for the page (And made sure they worked!) and "BK" is currently working on a "TEAM OF THE MONTH" as well as many other projects. Basically, the same kind of stuff I've been doing for the past 5 or 6 years.
Stay tuned! I think you are all going to love it. :) This new site is more like a webbrain instead of a website. Fully interactive memberships, club sanctions, high points, circulars, race and television show search engines....and much more. Tons of Fun!
T-Rex: -- send me a picture of your boat and I'll make sure it is added to our APBA photo gallery -- I gar-on-teee it! :)
In fact, ANY racers who want their pictures posted, (just be sure they aren't copyrighted!) Please send them to me, boatkitten@aol.com
The new website will still be located at the same address: www.apba.org. The launch hit a snag beyond APBA's control, and has not been announced yet. They are waiting for approval to change over from the previous web host.
The other website that Connie posted is NOT the complete APBA site. Someone, somehow, found this temporary link and prematurely passed it around. We had hoped to announce the launch when the APBA site was actually ready to be announced, but -- oh well.
Despite the obstacles.....As soon the switch is made, and the web site is COMPLETELY ready...... I'll let you all know!
These designers deserve a great round of applause. It's absolutely AWESOME. :)

BK,
Thanks for the info. Btw, how do you know if a pic is copywrited? Someone told me there was a mark on the back?
Who is the webmaster? They did a nice job. And T Rex and I need to know who to yell at (just kidding) to tell them to change the wording in the intro that reads " the ONLY sanctioning body". to ONE of the sanctioning bodies....
Hey, maybe this webmaster doesn't know about the rest of the boat racing around the country that isn't APBA? Duz TREX need ta edju Kate him/her?
PS. was that your birthday? What were you doing in the Ozarks on your birthday?

It is worded a bit goofy, but I believe the "Sole governing" verbage relays to the UIM's granting of all U.S. sanctioning control to APBA. This means that since the UIM controls and grants all records and championships with "World" status, the APBA is the only association that can sanction true World Championships and World Records that would be recognized by the UIM.
It's a little misleading, for sure. They should be more specific as to the sole UIM APPROVED governing body status that APBA carries.

Sam you are exactly correct, but you must give the APBA their room for their propaganda angle. They have been using the same tack for years to discredit other sanctioning bodies in the US.
APBA has been the US sanctioning body for UIM boat racing since 1952. Prior to that APBA was a member club under another umbrella organization which was directly affiliated with UIM.

But no thanks...I no longer belong to APBA, so wouldn't be right fer me ta be there...But theyz a lot of deserving ODBA racers that do belong to APBA, that would truley represent the sport of Dragracing, and add to ya'lls photo gallery...Jus fer tha record, I wuz jus jerk'in ya chain...I'm not Bashing anybody or any oranization, I jus speak my feelings and my opinion...Thanks for tha offer, But I have to step down for someone that belongz there...would be like putt'in Faith Hill's picture in a Mercury repair manual...would be kinda outof place...T-REX:cool:
Hi T-Rex~
There are a few pictures of Drag racers there already, under the Drag category pages. I think most if these guys are ODBA too.

The photo gallery only has received pictures from only one fan so far. Some more have been promised and I'm anxiously awaiting those. We welcome anyone who has nice photos to share, and we'll add them to the gallery. Just this afternoon someone offered us some really good ones from NEODA. (Thanks RICH!) We hope to have some of those up soon!
In the meantime, I'll just keep asking for more info, and I promise to stay on it til we have nice, complete gallery. Just takes time ;)

why does it say "nitrous oxide cannot be used" in the unlimited class?
I'll pass that on to the Drag Chairman and see what he says. Whatever it says on there, probably came from someone in the category itself. (I really don't know much about rule making. But from what I remember, ODBA allows nitrous in Unlimited - not sure about APBA Drag rules are). But I'll let the chairman know!
thanks!
