I have a 1990 150HP Merc XR2 outboard, s/n OD110805, 2 hole pick up, and I bought recently an used leg with all the loose parts.
My mechanic tells me that the prop shaft and bearing carrier are not for this model, and I would need to buy a different type of propellor for this shaft.
Could anyone look at the pic and confirm this, and which would be the correct shaft.
Thanks

Email me, I may have the correct shaft for you for trade or sale. The shaft in the photo will only work with Merc Flo Torq hubs and not the std prop hubs.

Your shaft and bearing carrier are for the sportsmaster gearcase, 'fat' shaft. They are used together. If you change the shaft you have to change the carrier also.

You need a 'small' propshaft and bearing carrier.

We Stablished That The Sportsmaster Prop Shaft Bought Is The Wrong One For My Gearbox. However, The Seller Insists That I Could Use It On My Gear Box (2 Hole Pick Up) And Now Wants To Send Me More Parts, Possibly The Prop Hub For This Shaft? Please See Photo Attached Of The New Spares And Shaft And Advise. Many Thanks Indeed.

if you have the large diameter gearcase. If so then the Sportmaster internals will work.
If you want the smaller size splines then you need only change the propshaft. If you have a small gearcase housing such as the XR4 or XR6 or inline size dia. then you will need to swap everything.
