What software are you guys using to edit pictures and video?
On the picture end Im just looking for something to be able to edit size, (picture and resolution), rotate, crop, etc.
On the movie side I would like to be able to edit, overlay music, add text etc.
The camera this is comming from at this piont is a Sony Cyber-shot but would also be looking at a full video system down the road.

JASC Paint Shop Pro, or Adobe Photoshop Elements for photo editing.

Windows XP's Movie Maker is OK for simple video stuff, nothing fancy.
Pinnacle Studio (currently v. 9+) for video editing is EXCELLENT.
Premier or Ulead for high-end pro-level editing.

I'll second that. I like Pinnacle and I've heard movie maker is good for small stuff. You can get Pinnacle for about $110. Make sure you get the kit with the firewire card if you don't already have a firewire input.

Make sure you disable all the crap you are running while editing and rendering video, (i.e. virus, firewall, instant message programs, office, real, qtime etc...) Alot of people have all that crap running and don't even know it.
