On average how many hours should these engines go between rebuilds?

I called Mercury racing and asked the same question. They told me if you don't run the dog crap out of them, you are looking at 700 to 800 hrs. As long as you keep up with the maintance of the engine. Chuck.

My son bought a new one 04 lasted 60 hrs. dealer said the crankshaft broke.
