Is there a date for the second Romp? I want to reserve early and get a waterfront site for that one. My wife likes the island beach better. I think I'm coming up alone for the first one an just staying Sat into Sunday.

The Romp was so much fun - I should be in NY this summer again, so I'll be there!

at100plus
02-08-2005, 09:13 PM
It would be great to have an exact August date too, if we reserve now, we can probably get waterfront.

3rd weekend in August is Sat. the 20th and Sun. the 21st.

how close to the water are the sites that are not waterfront? Is there any bad sites? Do most people stay in a tent? Are there shower houses close by? Sorry for all the questions but I am really hoping to make some events with the family this year and I need good answers before the wife and daughter say yes.

IMHO all sites are fine and very accessable to the activities. You should probably bring an extra flashlight for Trikki.AND a drainplug for Charley!

I will have to give you a call with some question sometime. Is site 209 a good one? Why does it say that it will not be a water front site in the summer? Will I still be able to get my boat to that site?

81hydrostream
02-09-2005, 10:52 PM
209 is a good site. There are places to pull up. I dont know about later in the summer but during june of both the romps that I have been to that site has been waterfront.

LGT-FST,where the hell were you two weekends ago??There were only two cars there from Ct.#95 and 03. Weather was great,in the thirty's,and about40 cars.I took some pics with the new digital camera, but have no clue how to post them! This year's Romp will definitely be the challenge.I think after watching you sneak away early someone will have your number!!!!!!Even UCONN is struggling this year!! I'd almost predict an all ACC final four!!

LGT-FST
02-11-2005, 06:23 PM
Nick I'm either working or racing down here. Raced 3 times down here, won all 3 by large margin's. Audi's or Allison's always at the front. Uconn having some upset's but they will be there when it count's. Whooped up on Syracuse at the carrier dome the other night. Russ and I will be up on friday and stay at the inn at the bridge. Rule #1 at romp do not try to keep up with red and white euro, rule #2 blast right bye blue and white euro. Fly, boss take away your key board? He must have seen 6034 posts and said I paid for 6000.

My place to Northville, NY:

Total Est. Time: 17 hours, 44 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1153.31 miles

Looks like a great gig. I've always heard the lakes up that way were pristine. (Grew up in SW PA) Too bad it's a little on the 'far side'.

I'm not really sure what you're digging at with the Rumble comment?

You're right about one thing, though. Talk IS cheap.

Liqi fly,

Go to the Allison 50th. I'll give you a ride faster than any of your friends can go. So much for the region being slow. The offer stands. :o

Randy

P.S. this is a friendly offer..you need to experience it to be a true believer.

Liqui-Fly
02-25-2005, 03:05 PM
But just the same I have zero interest an an Allison at a 100 plus ride....I like watching other idio...err people do that. But I seriously doubt you're going to take me faster than Helmut could.

Considering I can and have given rides faster than Helmet has ever run his boat, I would think you are not familiar with my craft. Not taking anything away from Helmet and anything he has accomplished (I know of no other euro that runs like his), my little river rocket can take you past 130 in less than 1/2 mile. There is quite a bit of difference between his boat and mine, along with the distance it takes to get there. Talked to Helmet at Jasper and we thought we should trade boats for a squirt if we ever boated at the same place. The offer still stands if we ever boat in the same water...it would be fun,,I promise....

Randy

02-25-2005, 04:52 PM
The only thing I don't get is why they are using KPH, and the K isn't for knots, in the midwest. I thought the entire nation was still mph.

Randy I saw your STV on TV....that thing was never over 90....yeah I know...the camera subtracts 40 mph

Cool!

BTW how far is the Romp from Rochester? When I was at Dave Casper's place I fell in love with the area. Reminded me of that Chevy Chase movie "Funny Farm". Most people in the U.S. think of New York as all buildings and things. It was some beautiful country to visit and I'd love to go back but the distance is right up there.

Randy

Reminded me of that Chevy Chase movie "Funny Farm".

Now, now RANDY,

We'll admit ya hit 140+ w/ your little light river rocket, Fly's just excited cause they don't let him out much in the Winter ;)

BUT

The proof of burden IS, that the midwest supplies MORE contestants for the "Jerry Springer Show" than we do   :D

Would love to see you and Helmet swap, I got $50 towards gas ;) :D :D

Trikki 1010,

Just to clarify, my reference to the Chevy Chase movie was meant to say how nice the country was, not the people in the town. I forgot the movie portrayed the town's people being a little "off". It just came to mind because I liked the eastern country that was filmed. Opps.. It didn't register 'till today why you picked out that quote. Sorry but it's the only movie I thought of that showed the country and not the "city". Take no offence as is was not to be taken that way.

I always wondered why Laconia scheduled the same weekend as the Romp.

I am thinking about doing some things differently this year but I am undecided. I think the pub would be more fun if we made a commitment early for the entire room upstairs and did a buffet or something of the sort. But the numbers game is tough. Would like to do awards...joke awards ect for some fun too. The only thing the dam dun is Sunday morning so the King of the Damn presentation would be tough. Or we could make it the previous years king...which was me.

Ralph, Dont worry an OMC has never been lost at a Romp. But not I have seen plenty a Merc blown :D But then if you look at the pictures you will see like 60 Mercs and like 1 or 2 OMC's and maybe a Yamaha. The air is cool and dense up there...little extra jet and it will take some serious mistreating. Don't forget the slippery water that good for an extra 10 mph over southern water.

Charlie M
03-03-2005, 10:02 PM
Yes air is less dense with higher altitude. Was not aware of the 800' altitude I thought it was more like 300 or 400. But the air temp is a little more drastic that what you think. 100+ degree heat really kills an outboard.

On another note we have planned head down there and spend the night wed at a hotel and camp thrus through sat nights. Will everyone already be there thursday morning, I think we cannot get our sights before noon. Will anyone be on the lake before noon or should I just plan to sleep in late and get something to eat before heading over.

I'll give someone else the chance to be king of the lake before I head over.

Mad EFI ECU's for both motors. You can squeeze some economy out of them. I'm not sure how many gallons it would take to recover the cost though. Hopefully we'll start another War for oil. The first one didn't pan out like the libs said.

Wide open at the CT river run. It looks like its running at least 78MPH.

Trim up more Butt Nutt. I thought it was a squirt boat.

I'm working on it but it has been so damn cold.

Sorry Trikki I know my boat. Say for instance I had a big crack in the bottom...you see I would know that. It wouldn't take bouyant empty beer cans to clue me in. POW

How much for the windshield? You might break 80 this year so you might need it so you don't have to lean into it

I would be ashamed of that video if I were you. I saw a duck swim past you. I thought you were faster than that. I may have to dig up my 17 pitch ski prop just to give you a chance.

There are only about 4 that I'm worried about. The rest between not stepping up and/or breaking down I like my chances:) I figure we'll do a nice lined up start this year. I'll be able to peal a few off on the rocks around that first corner hehehe.

I should be getting some work done today though. Waiting for the weather isn't really working out.

:D I think Fly is delusional, maybe from being stuck inside from the rough winter. I hope he wakes up soon from the dream he is having!!!! :D
