The method I've been using (and have been told by L&S to use) is to establish a "holding rpm" first. This is done by increasing the throttle and load simultaneously until the "holding rpm" (whatever rpm you want your pull to start at) is achieved and the engine is at WOT.
Then the load is gradually reduced allowing the engine rpm to increase up to where you want to stop the pull (or redline).
This procedure works fine for a stock engine but seems like it might be a bit hard on a drag motor that is only designed to run for 10 seconds or so since it can take much longer to establish that holding rpm to be consistent and then proceed with the pull.
What methods do some of you guys with dynos out there use?
