thanks for the link
to bad they didnt have video of it at speed. looked like they had no intentions of anything other than displacement speeds, what a shame, all fixed up and no courage.

not buyin it. 150 kilometers perhaps, but at 150 mph i belive those rivits would pop with 1 nice smack of a good wave. second the bottom looks very flatish, north sea??? come on, that is some of the most feared water by profesional mariners on earth, second only to cape horn. i belive the ruuskies are just tryin to salvage a buck out of a 50's contraption. fun out

I could be wrong, but I believe the sign on the boat stated 150 KMH. Not MPH

It's been at the Atlanta Boatshow on display the last 2 years in a row. They've got these big speed claims, but have never operated it above idle speed. (or at least they hadn't last year, I didn't pay attention to it this time) I think the makin' a fast buck off a 50's contraption is a pretty good description.

I'm not buying it either. The Vendneyev MP14(PF) is a 360/400/450 horse engine depending on the level of supercharging. This is a very popular engine in aviation and is on current high performance aerobatic planes that weigh 1200 lbs. They are only good for 150 to 200 mph pushing a tiny airplane with relatively little drag and a carbon fiber wing.

that and the fact that a superlight (less than 1000lbs ready to go) airboat with nitrous and a highly modded lycoming has a hard time breaking 110... Airboater could shed some more light on this.

"sorry comrad" lmao

Those boys must be dreaming 150 mph with a radiatal,This one here in supercharged injected and a 2 stage nos system putting out 650hp +or- at 650lbs complete boat and can run 118 in 400 ft if you can keep in in the water.

It's a hoax. The Russians would never spend that kind of money on saving a human life in the first place.
Second, have a look at where the North Sea actually is on the map below. There is no way a pair of Russians would run around there in a lake boat picking up pilots.

Airboater,
Is that a 540 lycoming? What compression, cam etc are you using?

Sky its a factory super charged 540 lycoming, all the internals have been re ground and a lot of different parts to increase the compression without blowing the cylinders off with the boost and nos.Heres a better view :D

:D :D :D It never ceases to amaze me how a little hot rodding will wake these engines up. Cool. :)
