Now that I know the OMC gauge won't work with the Merc and am contemplating replacing it, I'm curious if others think what I do.

The digital sender we run with the Smartcraft has a big delay in the guage response. Does anyone know if we switched to the analog sender if it would make the guage read faster and not have that lag between the time the motor was trimmed and when the guage registered where the motor trim is set at.

In the Smartcraft manual it says you can use either sender, you only have to tell the system through the menu which sender is doing the sending.

I have the analog sender on a 300x. It responds quickly but has the same problem of every electric guage - quite a lot of hysterisis between trimming up and trimming down. Useful as a guide but no use for absolutes.
