The last couple of times I used life caulk and when I took it apart about a year later it was not fully cured. I am going back to 4200 or 5200 or just plain siloicone

I would not use 5200 with a Jackplate, unless you never plan to take the plate off again. I tried and it bonded so well the gelcoat down to the glass came with it, after working at it for 3 hrs. Use 4200 and use it sparingly only around thru-hull bolts ect. Dean

Use 5200 on anything under the water line. They make a faster drying in red not blue if you cant want for the long dry.It is a adhesive and sealant well worth the money.

Dean, wax the boat first.
It will REALLY stick, but at least it will not pull the gel off.
I had to remove a honda from a Persuit once..... with all the bolts removed you could lift the boat off the carts. We had to tie the boat down and put a fork truck on it..... then use chissels and prybars to break it free.... and it also took the gel with it.
On that note....... NEVER use regualar household silicon. It won't stick underwater...... and will dissolve in fuel!...... BAD BAD BAD!

thats why i like sekaflex for glass... it is between 4200 and 5200 in adhesive and sealing qualitys... i use 5200 on aluminum and sekaflex on glass..

To remove 5200 just use a little heat from a heat gun, no big deal. I would rather have something that seals properly the first time, silicon and none of the latex sealants will.
