Hello

Been searching the forums.....Here are some questions I cant find definative answers to...
1. does a 2.4 175 have the same porting as a 200?? I blew my 200, and have a 1985 175 block (been running with a horz front half-I think 175's had vert reeds)
2. can I d-port my pistons with a grinder?? Enlarge the FP holes with drill bits?? The results wont be perfectly smooth, especially the fingerport holes.
btw....my ports are 1.610-20 from the deck as measured with slip fit with a caliper...
Thanks for all the help
Special thanks to T-Rex...BTW I had read and saved the Cherry 2fo article for reference
Bryan :)

if the replacement bare crankcase part numbers are the same, then the porting will be the same. But don't compare powerhead assembly numbers, because a different number might mean the powerheads have different cylinder heads or exhaust divider plates.
You can go to a site like dougrussell.com and compare part numbers rather quickly.
Hope this helps.

http://www.dougrussell.com/partscatalog/components/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewparts&colid=01&coldesc=V%2D175&index=555&block=120&BlockNumberList=10,90,100,110,60,150,160,120,170,350,130,20,80,70,210,270,290,250,230,280,300,220,26 0,240,30,310,360,420,320,380,330,410,400,340,140,390,370,180,190,50,0,200,40

So, for example, on this page the part numbers are different on the crankcase assemblies in this serial group so therefore they are not the same.
What I choose to look at was 175's starting at OC239553

Hard to swallow those prices for bare blocks, huh??? Powerhead assemblies are down at the bottom of the parts list...they are even worse!!
