I'm in the middle of a total resto of the v-king, I have been wondering about setting it up with centre steer. I won’t be racing it but will be going for big numbers. Is there a point in centre steer or can the boat be balanced effectively with the two seats up front?
I like having two seats up front as people in the back don't get the full effect but when going for high speed passes I will probably be alone in the boat.
I know Ronnie ran his Viper side steer, but most of the other streams I've seen have been centre configured.

Basically what I'm asking is, how’s your boat configured and how do you like it?

Thanks, Alan

I switched my Vector to center steer and loved it. The only down fault I had was it would lean to the port side until it got over about 40mph.

well, theres 2 arguements on that... center steer is easier to balance. Then again, one of the fastest vipers around was a side steer  Its all personal preferance imo.

heres mine supported in the center in 2 spots.

I don't think there's any question that a center steer is easier to drive and set up also. If I wuz' gonna run one fast I'd put it in the middle.

exactly... tank in center, seat in center, battery on one side and trim pump on the other. all the other rigging doesnt weigh much. another thing that makes chinewalk worse is having alot of weight toward the outside of the boat. "pendulum effect"- once you get that weight out that far swinging, the inertia it carries makes it harder to gather up. thats why my old bass boat that had 2 10 gallon tanks on the outside of the hull and batteries in the center tended to chinewalk gradually worse, but once out of shape it was a bear to get back in shape.

My vector would lean starbord above 40 unless i put 50 pounds in the port side. make it a center steer

Only thing I find in my boat is alone, you can't grab the dock as good, but thats just requires you not to be as lazy :p

I too set up mine in the center and love it. 10.5' is right you do need to get up when docking.
when I set mine up I put every thing in the middle and then went back and had to push the batterys out board little by little till she ran how I liked. I also had a guy here in town make me a plate alum. dash on a cnc machine with gauge and helm cut outs.
