I have a 1997 PROMAX 225 powerhead that came off of a longshaft. I am using it on my 2000 short shaft.

1. Should I have the ECU re-curved for a short shaft?

2. Can I use the current ECU when running this powerhead on my short shaft?

3. Can I take the ECU from my 2000 225 Promax and use it on this 1997 powerhead?

The part number for the 1997 ECU (for the longshaft) is 824003R32 (yes, it went back for the recall).

The part number for the 2000 ECU is 824003A23.

1. No, Chris ran it on a shortshaft also

2. Yes

3. I don't know, since Chris' powerhead was modified and I don't know what if anything was done to the ECU. Hopefully I'll put the 2 of y'all in touch before the weekend is over.

I'm not smart on electronics but can't imagine there being any difference in ECU's between long and shortshaft engines unless it pertains to idle, or right off, since the tuner is more likely to be jambed in the water with a short motor on a tail heavy boat like a bassboat. (just guessin)

Thanx, did not know he ran it on a short shaft.
