Those are some of the features that make them safe and reliable. Just not super convenient. If you could stop payment or refund them easily they would be about as useful as a personal check.

I moved to a "NEW" area...and for awhile all my MONEY ORDERs didn't SHOW UP...Still chasing more than $1,000, actually, kissed it good bye!!!
See, cashing a money order...with phoney ID, the check cashing place doesn't worry because THEY will get their money...
I have gone to Pay Pal or PERSONAL CHECKS...Checks clear pretty fast, saves customers running around to get a money order that I never get...

Interesting. I was thinking the postal money order was better incase of fraud. I believe making it a felony.
I have been using Cashiers Checks issued by local banks recently. No problems as of yet.

Ron - I guess I don't understand. Your post office will deliver the mail that contains personal checks but they give your mail containing money orders to criminals?

Barrystrawn I agree, the fraud is on the end that sends it ifin they did send. The purchaser starts at the Post Office and from there call the Postal Inspectors. Im retired postal worker and you are watched while handling mail. Many a woodby thiefs are slow dancing with buba. Cant give a bad rap to the Postal Service its the best in the World. I have dealt only postal money orders and been doing so for years and no trouble. If a move has transpired then some times the computers dont catch up but they eventually will and your mail should arrive. A return address is always necessary for there are accasional machine gliches and letters are eaten up but that is rare. Rick
