This may sound like a stupid question but is there any significance to the coating on the connecting rods.

theres like a lacquer coating about a half inch down from the wrist pin and covers the rod down to and including the crank bearing cap. I was thinking this was just a factory coating used to keep the oil from being baked on.

thats just he dipping sauce on the rods. it makes them tasty but i prefer bbg sauce instead!
