Hi,

My boat is 18.5 feet long. It has a Merc Black Max 150 on it. I don't plan on racing the boat against anyone, but I would like to figure out the best all around prop fot it. ( takeoff, fuel, RPM's )

I guess that I would like to get out of the hole more than top speed. I have just restored the boat, and it is my first boat. The engine is rated for 6,500 RPM, but I don't plan on taking it over 5,500 or 6,000.

I want a stainless prop! What do you think that I need?

Hi rush, what kind of boat is it and how much does it weigh? What are you running on it now and how many rpms is it turning? Does it need bow lift, stern lift,...etc? Where is your shaft in relation to the pad of your boat?

I'd say a 24 or a 26 drag wheel from Performance Propeller it should give you a good holeshot and good top end speeds

What year of 150? Most were rated for 5500 or 5800 rpm (6000 for the XR2), but they perform well up to 6500 RPM without much risk of damage or premature wear.

If Your Looking For Out Of The Hole Performance And Great Tubing/skiing, Try A Merc Hi-five 23-25; They Are Great Out Of The Hole, Pull Strong, And Are Smooth Running But Not Great For Top End Speed Runs.
