I have never used an orbital polisher or any other type of power equipment to apply wax and buff it out. I got an orbital polisher for X-mas but it is 1 speed at 3800rpm's. I noticed on the net that there are variable speed polishers available that have the capability of turning far fewer rpm's. I am looking for any advice on what the best type of polisher is as well as any tips for what pads, etc, should be used to put the wax on and buff it off. What rpm's should you run to do this?
Thanks!

Catfish, the best orbital polisher that most of the top detailers use is a porter cable model. If you go to the website www.autopia.org and do a search function you will pick up a wealth of info on both orbital and rotary polishers and the best type of pads to use. Frank sr

For waxing and maintaining a pretty nice car, you should be okay. For buffing cars that are oxidized or have been color sanded, I'll stick with the old trusty Milwaukee.
