I just did the opposite, A 2.4 200hp on A 2.5 offshore, they are different, you will need to use your 2.5 adapter and tuner. I still don't have mine running properly. I posted the question for two weeks and got no response, I don't know if no one knew the answer or just didn't want to respond to a junior member. Good Luck!!!! JIM

I do know that the exhaust openings are a different size on some of the V6 engines. The 2.0L engines had larger openings than The 2.4L and the high performance engines had larger openings than the standard models. They need to be matched up between the powerhead and the base. I have seen it done with a die grinder, when the base is smaller. I am not sure about the cooling modifications, but you can do a search to see if anyone has covered that before.
I know what you mean about not getting a responce to your questions. There are about 50 members that like to run the show, and if you aren't in the click, you aren't in the click. They like to use the forums instead of instant messenger to exchange comments between themselves. They don't even care what the origanol question was about. You can ask about a Mercury piston, and the next thing you know is your thread has turned into a discussion about some CCC or Strangler Johnson or Evinrude that hasn't been made in 30 years. And then there is the ball busting thing, that I won't get into. It will surface on it's own.
I hope you find the answers that you were looking for.

It is just that some questions keep being asked over and over again.

You should first 'search' the forums for information, and then ask questions on what you do not understand. There is a vast amount of great info on this site, maybe even too much to get you confused.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to stir controversy, just wanted to get some help for a fellow boater. I know the same questions gets asked a lot, but new members aren't as proficient in the at using the forums, and we have important questions (to us anyway) no matter how simple or redundent they may seem to the the more experienced members. I just wish that in the time it took to chastise a member it could it been a helpful response. I know, from, the people that I have talked to that there is so much knowledge and experience on this sight that an answer could have been posted in no time. If I had the answers I would I would gladly post them. Help a new guy out, PLEASE. THANKS, JIM :o

I am sorry that both 86shadow and QUICKSILVER feel that there questions are ignored here on S&F :(

A couple of things you should consider before bashing such a forum.

First, not everybody sees every thread, for example I just stumbled on this one myself. Because so many threades are posted, new ones can go off the first page really fast and even top posters get their threads missed or ignored.

Second, not everyone is on S&F all the time, even the top posters, they do have other things going on where they aren't at their computer all the time and many of the more technical guys won their own shops and need to work to keep them going.

Third, net everyone knwo the answer to our question, even the top posters. An may are afraid that if they post the wrong answer, they will get blasted. I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I can do a search:

Fourth, the search tool is very easy to use, just go up to the "search" botton (between the "new posts" and "quick links") and type in the box.

I entered 2.5 tuner and found the following after about a 5 minute search:

Please don't get discouraged so easy, S&F is a great place and a vast source of information, yes there is a lot of BS and a few clicks, but show me a comunity anywhere that dosne't ;)

Guys, I don't think anyone meant any ill feeling, just this question has been asked a lot and most of the gurus are not around that much at the moment.
I you look under the search option at the top of the page, go to advanced search and type key words that are realivant to the info you need and search in the tech section I'll bet you find what you're looking for.

Heres a few to get you going, keyword was just 'Tuner'...

PS, it's def. not a newbie thing, I got tons of help when I was new here, still don't know much either and still get help. ;)

blkmtrfan and ALAN POWER, Thats what I'm talking about! Way to jump in and help a guy out. Thank you very much for the consideration and the help. I and other new members will benifit from this information. I didn't mean to come off as a #!*:>? I guess I was just very dissappointed. Again, THANK YOU very much. I apologize to all who read this post and took it as a slam against senior members, I never meant it that way. :o Sincerely, JIM B.

You forgot one.
Guys will give advice and the person they are trying to help only does part of what they are told, then comes back and bashes the person giving the advice because it did not work out.Good point sswampratt ;)

Funny you mention that swamprat, I am fortunate enough to know one of the guru's here fairly well. Over a few beers one night he mentioned the same thing you just did. Got to the point where he does not post as much anymore in the tech section and knows others who have backed off too for the very same reason.

We should be thankful for the wisdom, knowledge and real world experience that people offer here. But, this is not burger king where you can place an order for advice and whine if you do not get exactly what you ordered. The guru's work like everyone else, and are taking time from their jobs and families to give advice for free that you cannot get anywhere else. They deserve a little more respect than they get sometimes.

just my $.02,
