hi guys, can anyone helpme??
searching for a o/b v8 or 300x i found a '88 johnson 300px.the powerhead and mid is good but the gearcase is completely empty!!!
there is anyone that can sell me it? or can i mount the gearcase of the '93 250 evinrude v8? this can be a good choice or a '01 300x is better???

you can mount that 250 case to that or you can mount a v6 lower unit to it as well.

A V-8 is actually 27" not 25"
I have heard of guys mounting a V6 lower on a v8 but be aware
the d-shaft does not go up into the crank all th way.
And you would use the shift rod off the v-8 in the v6 case.

thanks for your reply...
outboard4life: i have a '91 225(looper) evinrude too, that is in excellent condition
and you are sayng that i can take it's gearcase and mount it on the '88 300 v8????? ok i can also buy the vertical shaft(sigh! 950 euro) from my dealer and have a good egine for my boat. do you think it ca be a good option for a 25' v hull and 3200lbs w engine?

yes you can. But in your case I would stick to using the v8 case. that is a very large boat to be pushing around, and that would be a lot of strain on the lower unit. a v6 lower would work. But I don't think it would last long in your case.
