Looking at getting a front half of motor that has piece broken off, but still have the piece. It is broken where the oil pump shaft goes
in on the flat surface where the halfs meet. Would it be safe to weld the piece back on the block?

Thanks Jody

Jody,

Be real carefull welding on that part of the block or case halves. Be sure to pre heat the case halve to be welded in an oven or go over it evenly with a rose bud (burning torch). then i would weld on the part that is NOT the mating part then use gel seal on the crack at the surface where the mates come together at assy time that way you dont have to do some queered up machine work to take down the welded areas. Use a honeing stone ( wet rock to sharpen knives) on the sealing surfaces soaked in varsol to make sure the surfaces are flat and true that way you get the "high" places down to match the flat surfaces if there are any.

Good luck and good boating,
