To Cone, or Not to Cone?

Has any one run a stock Merc V6 gearcase on a 21' Superboat or Challenger and then added a Bob's nose cone? What was the difference in speed? I wouldn't think a cone would do very much for a 70 MPH boat unless one needed it to maintain water pressure.

I ran 76 mph and added a nose cone to my Fleetmaster lower unit (Promax 300 - Phantom 25), and there was no speed gain. Due to warranty problems I bough a Torque Master lower unit. Just as fast as Bobs Nose Cone and Fleetmaster. Propshaft heigh 2,25 below, since the Phantom 25 is a heavy hull.

I think you are right on: as long you have enough water, a stock case will be faster (less than 80 mph).
