What hardware is needed to capture video from VHS tapes and burn to DVD?

You'll need an analog-to-digital connection to your computer (video capture card or similar external device) - or - you can capture the video to a Mini-DV camcorder then import it into your computer.

My Sony TRV-840 Digital 8 video camera has an analog video input, you can "pass thru" with the FireWire port to a computer with digital video capture, then use a video progam to burn digital video to DVD.
I'm sure there's more of a proper way to do this, but this is just one way to do it...

Buying a camcorder is probably out (too many $$$).
I have the video card at this link: http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_a380_ultratdh_myvivo_1.html
I'd rather not replace it unless I just have to.
Where can I find an example of a "similar external device"?

If I understand correctly, all I need besides the item in the link above is a DVD burner in my computer and a VCR?
Thanks for the help.
