I like mine. 96.2 mph so far on the gps. Torquey, but it revs slow. Not too many performance parts for it yet.

Can't judge it by speed. We have a 225 ProMax and it does 96 MPH too. And its a 20 foot hull.

That's the only problem with the 300X's, they need 92 Octane, not available on the water up here in the Northwest:mad:

Other than that we love ours,

Caleb

My boat was built for a 25" since at the time (02)250's only came that way. Now...To keep the center of gravity down like yours & so its not putting so much stress on transom with the setback. The torquemaster only comes in a 20". Plus it was weird looking being up so high .

Blkmtrfan it has hit 96.2 so far. The Skater has more with the stock 300, just kept running out of lake. I was testing on a 1/2 mile long lake with a borrowed 34 cleaver. I was at 6200 rpm and still climbing fast. Got as close as I could to the shore before I had to get out of it. Should be able to get over 100 with some more time. If not, I could pull the heavy back seat and sub-woofer.

Checkmates - what hull were you getting 96 mph with a 225 pro max? That is pretty good. Was that a 3 litre pro max? What prop and rpm? How long did it take to get there?

Hydrostream Venus. 30" ET not sure of RPM's though. He can still try a 32" though and still have enough.

Here is a picture of speed HE took using the video camera by himself on a pass.

Bought it with about 46 hours offshore racing, used it for a whole season, about the same hours, with some drag racing thrown in for goor measure. Never missed a beat. I rached 94.6 mph out of the 1/4, and managed 89 mph with a passenger, rear seat, full tank. I used a 29 srx chopper, land and sea jack plate, marine machine steering. Was a bit too top heavy for my boat, and effected cornering at speed. Otherwise a very powerful torquy motor that was always reliable. Sold it now to another offshore racer and as far as I know he is not rebuilding it.

The original racer replaced the 300pm with 2.5 offshore motors, only to reminiss the 300's for their longevity of life and reliability. He since sold the boat, and I scored the gear box and mid section of one of his 2.5's for my project motor. I would have loved to fit a Backer marine 15" leg, and some proper injection + ignition.
