I RUN COUNTER ROTATING CLES'S ON MY SKATER AND BOTH MOTORS HAVE REVERSE.THE LEFT IS JUST SHIFTED BACKWARDS AT THE MOTOR.I NEVER REALLY USE IT AS ONE MOTOR IN REVERSE SEEMS TO MANUEVER THE BOAT JUST FINE.I ALSO NEVER SHIFT MY MOTORS WHILE RUNNING AND START THEM IN GEAR.I WOULD GUESS THAT IS WHY YOURS IS NOT HOOKED UP!

The early CLE LH's had no reverse. Only forward. On a LH-only CLE, the guts, including the propshaft, are different then the RH CLE.

My Skater has one of these. There was never a shifter or cables mounted in the boat for the LH motor, since it cannot be shifted.

Drop the case and see if it has the shift rod in the very front of the case. If it does, I bet you can spin it around with your fingers since there is nothing for it to hook to inside the housing.

Those are good strong units...just tough to get parts for sometimes and even tougher to find someone that really knows them.
