I have recently had to reformat my hard drive and I have had no problems thus far.
However I do not have a program to play dvd's. I thought windows media player would be able to but apparently not.
Does anyone know of any free dvd software?

Media Player does play DVD's.

WinDVD or PowerDVD work well.

What type of DVD a regualr movie DVD or a plus minus DVD that you have burned?

Windows Media Player requires a commercial third-party plug-in to play DVDs - either data or music/video.

Actually the newer media player versions do not need any pluggins.

The decorders metioned above will work for you ,power dvd, windvd, not sure if there free though, dowload the trial version and see if it works.

Again what are you trying to play a movie dvd a burned dvd, a vcd,svcd....?

Also you can open the disk and click on the video files and watch .99 gigs of video at a time you won't have much control with out the decoder
