View Full Version : Sucking up pebbles

Has anyone ever had a problem with their LWP sucking up pebbles? Last 2 times I had the heads off on my engine there were quite a few small pebbles in the block, some of them wedged in water passages.

I think this could be due to the design of my nose cone. It has a large square hole in the bottom and a forward facing hole in each side of the cone. I had presumed this was a bobs cone but seeing pictures of a few on S&F lately leads me to believe it's not. Anyone know what cone this is or what could be done to stop the ingestion of pebbles thats probably ruining my water pump and it's only a matter of time before the water supply is blocked.

Thanks, Alan

BTW, I don't run in shallow water it just seems to suck them up idleing in and out from the ramp. thanks

I would think some small alumium strip or rod welded in the large opening to form a grid would do the trick. I've taken little jobs like this to precision welding companies before and they only charge about £15. Make it easy for them by temporarily holding the parts in place. and pre clean everything.

I thought the lwp cones with the large square holes were the early land and sea design. Not sure if that's what you have, but they had a design like that.
