It won't be long now till all of the badest "Rope Racin" boats line up for the BIG $$$$. Sept 24, 25, 26. Should be a good turn out trying for one of the top 16 qualifing spots in each class, we will show up Thursday afternoon. Hope to see a bunch of you there, come by the outboard hangout (it will be easy to spot) and say hello, I'll have last years winner the Yellow, Blue and Purple Mirage polecat with me SE 083. See ya next week.

Where the outboards take on the big blocks for big bucks. The big blocks have their work cut out for them this year. I plan to try to keep score this year and report the results.

FYI... SDBA's last race in Bryan TX will have their 1000' timeing lights set up to help anybody who wants to know BEFORE they get to SITC what kind of times they will be turning there!

SITC Rule: You MUST have raced at least ONCE in sanctioned EVENT (like SDBA). You will only be allowed to race in a bracket that is two (2) seconds slower than SITC (you MUST show a time slip).

So come on out to Bryan TX Aug. 27th & 28th and Test & Tune for Smokin in the Cove!

That might be a touch too slow for the Cove! :o

I could run an 11.3 in the 1/4 mile,, and I ran a perfect 9.003 at the Cove! :D

You can almost subtract 2 seconds off your 1/4 mile times,, and get a 1000' time! Or pretty close anyways!!! ;)

Rick knows his way around the rope that's for sure!! Water is 86 degrees.

Big Al,, The race is in Malvern AR (Hotsprings AR), This is the 20th year it has been held!!!! :D Qualifiing is Friday & Saterday........ Racing on Sunday!

This race is only 1000' and there is only four class's 6,7,8 & 9 seconds! You can just about figure that if you run 11's in the 1/4 mile you will be pretty close to a 9 second in the 1000'!

There are around 140 Entries,, and only 64 of those (plus 32 second chancers) will run on sunday! You HAVE to qualify, or you don't get to race!!!!!!!!! ;)

The Cove is the tightest Bracket racing in the Country!!! If you don't make it this year,,, Be sure and put it on your Calander for next! :)

Well, We're BACK and home Safe! :D

The qualifing went off without a hitch! I ran some damn good numbers, but just short making the CUT (18th).... I ran two pass's that were close..... one was a 8.076 and 8.081 but you had to run at least a 8.068 to make the field!!!!

They canceled the RAce's today due to the fact that They were draining the lake so fast in the anticipation of "RITA" that there wasn't enough water to even think of running on today (down about 24-36").... Good thing though,, Because "RITA" is sure showing what a Bitch she really is up there right now! :(

Special thanks to "Garrett" and "LittleBit" for helping me all day Friday and this AM!!! I couldn't have done it without you two!!!!! ;)

Rocket, sorry I didn't get to talk to you and others this year. You were leaving as I came in with some pictures Saturday. 5 inches of rain Sat., dried out Sunday morn but with the low lake and powerful currents in front of the dam, it was the right decision. Due to the early breakdown and rain, copies of the qualification sheets which turned out to the final results, got taken home and I could not get a copy. I'll pick up the copies in a day or two and post them.
Anytime you can see 150+ runs in one day, it ain't all bad. Too bad it wasn't perfect like the last 6 years, but it could have been worse! Thanks to the over 100 racers that came, some from the storm zones, and fans that came to watch. The next Smokin' In The Cove XXI will be the same time next year as it has been the last 20 years.
