I run my 15' Hydrostream Viper every weekend out of Seaside Park, staying close to the flats of Island Beach. This winter though, I'm re-building a 21' Shadow & Bridgeport Merc. Next year, we'll catch up. See you at the CT River Run if you come!

The only person I see is Mike(At100Plus) when he comes down to Mystic Island. We sometimes go over to A.C., but most of the boats are I/O's. Just not our type of people if you know what I mean. Chuck.:D

That sounds good. You guys can show me were to run in Barnegat Bay. Only been to south part of LBI. Mike why don't you bring Virage to Conn. River Run? Also how hard is it to hook up a Stainless Marine trim unit? Should I get the bezel the color of my other bezels (gold) or color of the dash? Chuck.

Because I sold the lower unit and I'm really not interested in boats that small anymore, got a kid now.

Get the gold. They are easy to hook up and the best indicator I know of.

That makes sense, can't bring it unless you want to row. Mike, have you thought about looking for a 28, if you can't find a 24. They seem to be a little more plentiful, then the 24's. Also do you think you could put 300x's on a 24, like they do on the 24 Liberators. The X's seem to be a little more user friendly then the 2.5's. Also you don't have to give up any horsepower compared to 225 pro maxes to 2.5's. Chuck.

Sounds great! This should be a good summer! This recent snap of spring weather this past weekend has got my boat gears in motion. This spring for me, I'll be upgrading to a 150XS or V6 on my Viper, and my brother and I are putting together a 21' Shadow with a Bridgeport EFI. Mark H, another Toms River guy will be running a 22' Velocity with a '98 200.

For those who have been to other S&F events like myself, what do you guys think about a Barnegat Bay Event? Either the marina or ramp which I'm out of in Seaside could probably host its start. The marina could give just about everyone a place to tie up for the day, if timing was right, with when I'll be putting the docks in or taking them out.

The only problem with a Barnegat Bay event is that it's too rough down there for most of the river rocket type S&F boats.

Maybe we could do something at the Mullica River this summer. Smaller boats could play on the river and bigger ones in Great Bay.

I believe T/320`s or 330`s, they are 6.2`s. You know I will add prochargers real soon! I have to pick it up in the next couple of weeks in Orlando.

just talked to mike w skater he might come down and lend a hand too and possible bring the skater too thats a nice boat !! have you heard anybody whom rigged a motion or 24 skat w 300x s people say 115 but i hope it isnt too back heavy i have 4 in setback gorilla jack plates i was going to take them off but 5200 says its staying on i dont want to beat on the boat to take them off ill have to try them now but ill look for you in a month or so at tices the water will be cold but the boats will be red hot !!!

There's a 24 Skater - white w/ pink/blue striping with a pair orf 300X motors, I think it's in Florida. I think it runs fine. The Motion is kinda cab forward looking so that might be even better. I don't think you'll have a problem.

Contact Wildman, it is his friend that has the 24 Skater with the 300x's. Maybe you could get his number. Mike is right, I have never seen a 24 Skater with setbacks. If you can't get the jacks off, I would rig it with them and try it. Can't wait to see it!!!! :D Chuck.

Haven't been on in a while and just read the posts and just wanted to give my opinion on your jackplates.
I'm not real farmiliar with cg's of a motion,but am with a skater,although I don't have plates on mine setbacks are good,they alow you to.....1 with the setback your actually lengthening the boat wich is always good....bigger boats run better and a smother ride,and 2 because your farther away from the transom your able to raise your x dimention more and therefore go faster.
I know my skater is alittle ass heavy with full fuel and I have to run negative trim in rough water to keep the nose down,if I had setback the boat would be longer thus changeing the cg's.The props are farther back creating more lift aft and the result would be more weight forward....meaning less neg trim and less boat in the water...the result...more speed! and a better handleing boat.

The shadow's a 1981. I bought it last year from a guy in East Islip, Long Island. The boat is currently getting sanded and ready for the spray booth. I'm building up a 1991 Bridgeport EFI for it, I just ordered pistons, and am picking up the midsection today.
If that's not ready, I'll be running around my Viper, or even Glaspar G3.

whats up doc, kev and others...i'll be out fri, sun, and mon weather permitting. i will make it a point to hook up with you guys no doubt. had a killer run to AC this weekend. the run back sunday early afternoon was awesome. ran back with a 43 nortech, 36 and 32 spectre and myself. water wasnt bad til just south of the 72 bridge. north of the bridge once i got up on top had to run 80 plus to not beat anything up to good. loving this cat stuff. great to know the once your up on top of 3 footers its like being on the wing of an airplane. kev good luck.

Thanks Kevin, will do. I'll have more time next time around. I'll like to hear more on how your refurbished, for lack of a better term, your boat. It's really a great set-up. Looks great and runs fast as Hell! :D No pun intended! As I said, I gave the Mate a fresh coat of wax Sunday as it's been about a month since the last one. I though it needed one when I had it out Saturday :rolleyes: , it looks even better now. :cool: I use "Frenzy Wax', it's shines the best but only last a few, 2 or 3, weeks! My photos in "The Gallery" show the boat with a fresh coat of wax. I think the girl, I'm bad with names, that went for the ride with us had a "Deer In The Headlights" stair after those high speed runs. :D I must admitt, I was wanting for some seat belts after I popped out of the seat two or three times. :D Hope I didn't stratch our gel-coat trying to hang on? :rolleyes: I've to show you how the Mate jumps some swells! It can really run in-excess at times! :D

hey Racer,thanks, it was a lot of hard work to restore it back to the condition that i have it in.
it has a 2.5 carb H/P motor on it. it is not set up right yet. i am in the process of putting more set back on it and trying to get the right prop on it. at about 5600 rpm it is running around 70+.
i had blown up my mod vp and everything is all new this year so i am starting all ovcer with the set up:cool:

Saturday will be the day for me.

New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club's Barnegat Bay Poker Run is on Saturday. We will probably be running the bay by 11:30am. To see all the boats, be south of the Seaside Bridge around that time.
We may be idling out the entire Toms River if there are too many sail boat regattas going on at that time. Once we hit the bay it's Go Time! :)

I HATE SAIL BOATS THEY ALWAYS GET TIN THE WAY !!!! SOMETIMES THE JIBE RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME PICK UP SPEED THEN CROSS THE CHANNEL I MAY HAVE TO RUN THEM DOWN NEXT TIME :p WELL SATURDAY I HAVE TO ENTERTAIN GUESTS, BUT SUNDAY IS MY DAY ON THE BOAT !!

Poker Run Saturday:

It looks like we will all be heading south after coming out of Toms River.
The Inshore Group will be heading to Forked River, Waretown & as far as Holgate.

Offshore Group to do the same except for Holgate they will turn back to go out Barnegat Inlet and run the ocean up to Jenkinsons and back.
The final stop for all boats will be east of the Waters Edge where an anchored boat will hand out the cards.

If all goes well Saturday, I probably will be out with the family on Sunday too! :)
