Hi guys,

Just ran my Yam 175 for first time. Pretty good. Have few questions:
What's official rpm range, and where does limiter kick in?

what's the gearcase reduction ?

Does running this motor at higher rpm's make any sense in stock configuration?

Thanks a lot...

Greetings,

The rev limiter is set at 6100. It can be disconnected easily. In stock form 5800-6000 is the best operating range. The gear ratio is 1.86/1 .

Thanks !!

So how does one disconnect the rev limiter? And can the motor breathe well enough in stock form for these higher rpm's? Is the autolube system up to running at higher rpm's?

I'm still on the lookout for the bigger carb's you told me about. Not too many goodies over here in Europe.

Thanks again !
Greeitngs,
Gerben

the motor can turn 6800 all day without a problem. The power band is really best at 5800 to 6200, roughly. Diconnect the white wire running from the ****rol unit to the CDI unit mounted above it. Lower left hand side of the CDI unit.Leavr the other white wire connected to that post. It needs the 34 mm carbs to really turn on.

Are you sure the rev limiter is at 6100? I though it kicked in at 5800 on the 200 and down...

Another thing on the nice-to-have list is a 225 front half (horizontal). Check with some dealers, because many throw away the old front half when the put a new powerhead on a 225.
