Yes, I have heard of this stuff, but never had a need for it. It is an extremely high temperature grease, appartently originally developed to lubricate moving parts around forges and furnaces in steel mills, etc. I'm told absolutely nothing washes it off except the manufacturers "special" solvent. It's super expensive. I've heard of it being used with great success in automotive endurance racing applications (24hrs, etc) in stuff like CV joints. I don't really see where you'd need it in an OB. I wonder if they make a gear lube ??

H2O,

I'd say it would be overkill. Very expensive. It was Mil-Spec stuff for Aerospace use. I used it when I was in the Navy to lubricate certain components of Fleet Ballistic Missiles (i.e. Trident I and Trident II SLBMs). You don't think we would lubricate a billion dollar missile with cheap grease do ya? (LOL). Very high temp and high priced stuff. Like Matt said, it is durable.

I figured it must be expensie, was wondering if it would be good in axle bearings on trailer, and other zurk type fittings on outboard. i.e. swivel pin and perhaps steering cables. But it seems that this is a wrong application. Thanks for the posts. And no I wouldnt want plain old axle grease on my missles either.
