I was on IHR, and noticed how the delta and voodoo have very similiar hulls. Was one modeled off of the other? What are the differences? I've heard that the voodoo is faster, but the delta handles better, what makes it this way?

I have some videos at home with some Deltas kicking the **** out of Voodoos running up in Canada.

Can you send me those vids? After looking at the critchfields, they look similiar too. It almost looks like all these boats are the same, just with a different deck:confused:

IM pretty sure that its deltas and voodoos that have the same hulls, and critchfiels seem to have similarities too.
the reason that most deltas beat voodoos is that voodoos were originally heavy ski boats, if you rig mine properly it will kick almost any deltas ass, miles and miles away.

I'm 99% sure that the Delta is a flip off the critch..I know for sure that the Voodoo started as a delta then the step and hook was added. The reason that a Delta or critch will SMOKE a Voodoo on the race course is that they will turn (fast) without hooking. In a straight line I think the Voodoo is faster but the only Delta I've had was powered by a Pro50...

Alex, the Voodoo's that raced were, according to Jim T, 100lbs lighter than the stock voodoo. That would put them right in line with a Delta..they just don't turn. I also found the Delta alot more stable..almost too easy to drive.

that is true, it hurts my head when i hook it :D . Actually i never hooked it because i didnt have mine in for long until it broke, although i went to the edge of hooking and came back. But i know one of the previous owners would hook it once in a while. And my friend up north always hooks his and it looks like he should get knocked out from the hit on the side :D :D :D

I hooked mine once, almost sinking the boat, after that I knew the signs. The bow always comes up alittle then digs throwing you for a loop. You can drive around it but it obviously slows your corning speed....I'm a huge voodoo fan btw..

if you look at the bottoms the critchfield has two edges that run down the sides to help with lift ,the delta doesn't have them and some of the copies dont have them as well.the delta was first then the critchfield was made by modifing the delta bottom.and if remember i think the voodoo has a wider pad the help it plane faster .

Okay guys sorry to get off the Voodoo/Delta subject but have any of you had expericance with the Hustler? Either v-haul or the tunnel. I picked one up recently and Im curious how it will hang with the deltas and voodoos. Thanks :)

I've never even seen one in person. They are pretty rare around here. Race 115 I saw way back you mentioned you had an oasis, is that like a critchy?

they have a step pad on them but they dont have the stikes that run down the sides of the hull like a critch .so they run flatter not nose up like the critch because they dont trap as much air making them abit slower on the straights .but the they also dont have to get rid of that trapped air when they come in to a turn so they turn faster. i have a video when Todd Clark was racing his in dunnville and the second place boat was Tim toth in a critchfield (the boat that threebanger omc now owns)and down the first straight they were very close but after the first turn it was all over Todd walked away .and in the turns the spray off the boat looks like a water skier.

All three hull's are different. critch is totally different. voo doo & delta are simmillar but different at the same time. Voodoos are strait runners deltas are better in the corners & critchys are better at both worlds. Here's some pics!

your probably not aired out enough if your not hooking.... to much boat in the water wont let you hook from my experiances.

Try turning faster :). Half way through the corner the bow lifts then noses in causing the back to come around. Fun stuff.

Just like you do on a sea doo. raiise your motor on your transome you will get better performance.

You mean my Voo Doo will do a bat turn if I turn hard at speed?

Just like the dreaded Allison bat turn? As I understand it, most Ally bat turns happen when people are trying to go straight.

I haven't tried cornering hard in my Voo Doo. Nothing about it suggests it can corner like the Allison.

Voo Doo is winterized
Allison goes away next weekend

The Voodoo hull was made from a delta. I had the first one from Jim Tucker. Voodoos were much more forgiving than a delta. The could be trimmed out alot more before they would blow over. The deltas did corner better though. The Voodoo beat the delta, taking the canadian CBF speed record only to lose it later by a critshfield.
