What's everybody doing Labor Day weekend? We are all planning to be on the big sandbar Fri. nite til Mon. morn.

I guess we'll know what day most are coming when they post here and let us know. As far as the folks right around here, most will be there Sat and Sun. I don't know about any of the Bamagang but maybe they will all come. If you hear from anyone on it let us know. I have lots of pics of you from ODBA race. E-mailed a few to Roy but didn't have your e-mail. I'll bring them on the houseboat, remind me to give them to you. I might forget after a few white russians.

We passed through Sneads and ate at the Dairy Queen yesterday on the way back from Suwannee....Saw a couple of people heading toward the sandbar....we were too pooped to play. Discussed it and was going to ask what the best day or 2 would be to head down this weekend...? Got the Mother up and running...chasing down what seems to be an electrical problem now.

For those of you who plan to stay at Seminole Lodge in Sneads .... IF you were planning on locking through the Jim Woodruff Dam (as opposed to using the landing in Chatt. or Sneads) - please be aware that new rules are in place AS OF Sunday, Septmeber 5th. The lockmaster will not open the locks either way after 3:00 PM central / 4:00 PM eastern.

With this in mind .... those of us that lock thru will be leaving fairly early on Monday heading back up the river.

So if most of you out of towners were planning on staying 2 days - Sat. and Sun. may be the best. We were all thinking there will be plenty of locals there on both of those days. Plus, on the last 3 day weekend, Monday was dead. Most were most likely recouperating.

And of course there will be some that will already be there Friday night.

Looking foward to seeing you guys this weekend, I think I will be over the Suwannee trip by then. The Bama Gang will be there (some of us) just trying to decide what day or days would be the best, hell all days on the sand bar are best, this working stuff is messing up my boating, looks like I'm gonna have to give up work! and that damned hellicane.....I might scoot my plans up a day and go to the bend tomorrow and Sneads on Saturday....Calling for rain like hell on Sunday and Monday looks like High wind and rain. What you guys think?:D :eek:

We think that is a fine idea. We have almost decided to not take the houseboats since the path of the hurricane has change slightly. Looks like we may have some bad weather late Sunday and Monday. But we will be on the river all day Saturday, and Sunday if possible. It's hard to plan on having a good time when so many of our fellow Floridians are worried about their homes.

Seems that is the day to be there at this point.
Watching the weather and hoping all fellow boaters are out of South Florida and harms way. Can't be mad about our holiday being ruined with so many people forced away from their homes .... so we will make the best of it.
If the weather goes as planned, we will be at the river Saturday with plans to come back to our house for a Hurricane Party Saturday night.
Bama Gang .... come on Saturday if you can and we will see you there and give you directions to Margaritaville (our house) if you choose to stay in the area.
