Hi,
Just joined the forum this past weekend so this is my first post. I grew up in SC and have been to various parts of Lake Moultrie. There are places you can cut loose, but If I were you, I'd make 100% sure beforehand. That lake is loaded with stumps (and engine parts :) ). I believe Lake Marion is a little more open and less stumpy, but I can't say for sure as I haven't spent a lot of time there.
A nice spot to run would be the Tail Race Canal area which is located at the upper end of the Cooper River. I used to see lots of people with fast boats hang out around there. There's a nice sand bar area where folks hang out and the river is a great place to run fast.
Hope this helps!
