PULLED THE COVER OFF MY SKATER THIS WEEKEND TO GET SOME ROPE OUT AND FOUND A SUPRISE.MY CAT GOT IN MY BOAT,UNDER THE COVER,AND DECIDED TO SHARPEN HIS CLAWAS ON THE REAR SEAT AND SUNPAD.ONE YEAR OLD CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY.NOW, BEFORE ALL THE CAT HATERS OUT THERE SAY KILL THE CAT,MY WIFE AND I ARE WAY TOO ATTACHED TO HIM FOR THAT.ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT DID YOU DO ABOUT IT? I RIGGED MY BOAT SO HE WILL NEVER GET IN AGAIN.LUCKILY I SAVED ALL THE LEFT OVERS FROM THE UPHOLSTERY GUY SO IT SHOULDNT BE TOO PAINFUL TO HAVE IT REDONE THIS WINTER.IT JUST SUCKS THOUGH!
I wouldn't kill the cat....but I would find out if he could water ski.

Some other cat got in there and 'marked their spot' and your cat was only remarking it as 'theirs', cats are terratorial( I know I misspelled that, but I don't have a dictionary with me). Some cats scratch things to mark with paw glands, some with a good squirk of pee. I've had it done to my skirope bag, they stunk after every use for quite a while.

My wife and I wanted to buy a used leather couch. We watched the local paper and found one and went to take a look. The guy had it in his garage (in florida) with a giant industrial fan blowing in the garage.......I thought to keep the garage cool.......
I buy the couch for $250 and get it home on the flatbed and after it sat still for a half hour I discovered why I got such a good deal.
Cat piss......no........ wait another half hour, it couldn't have been cat piss ...........it had to be panther piss, by the time it sat still for an hour you would think a gorilla in heat pissed on that thing. Nothing on earth will get that horrible stink out........
It went to the dump the next day.......bought a new couch.

Cat's in the kettle
Did you ever think, when you eat Chinese
It ain’t pork or chicken but a fat siamese?
Yet the food tastes great, so you don’t complain.
But that’s not chicken in your chicken chow mein.
Seems to me I ordered sweet-and-sour pork
But Garfield’s on my fork.
He’s purrin’ here on my fork.
...
There’s a cat in the kettle at the Peking Moon
The place that I eat every day at noon.
They can feed you cat and you’ll never know
Once they wrap it up in dough, boys:
They fry it real crisp in dough.
...
Chou Lin asked if I wanted more
As he was dialin’ up his buddy at the old pet store.
I said "Not today. I lost my appetite.
"There’s two cats in my belly and they want to fight."
I was suckin’ on a Rolaid and a Tums or two
When I swear I heard it mew, boys:
And that is when I knew...
...
There’s a cat in the kettle at the Peking Moon
I think I gotta stop eatin’ there at noon.
They say that it’s beef or fish or pork
But it’s purrin’ there on my fork.
There’s a hair-ball on my fork.

I don't mind cats all that much most of the time, but what they do to boats is just not right. My neighbors cats are always fighting about who gets to lounge on my boat cover. That wasn't so bad until they started marking the cover. Fur and cat piss all over my cover and I don't even own a cat. Thought about driving them a few miles away and dropping them off.

This whole thread has been funny as hell. LOLplus. I toss a bunch of fabric softener sheets in the boat before covering. Seems none of the critters like the smell. No problems with mice, cats, racoons, etc. Also gives the boat a nice smell unlike mothballs.

My wife has two cats and they are great until they go and funk up little places in the house. Like my chairs or the couch which has turned into a scratching post!!! The last time they tore the place up I had a race to see who the strongest cat is.....Bowling Ball tied around each cats leg to make it fare and then a swimming race across the canal. Still awaiting the results. Its been about 2 weeks since the races started and still no word on the winner from the other side of the canal.....Im taking bets though....

I just had mine declawed (front) I made it a 5' tube scratching post with a lounge platform on top. Little turd woulden't stay away from my couch. I used a spray bottle which worked for a while. She got used to it and just let me spray her as she scratched. I took her in last week for declawing. Best $40.00 I've ever spent. It's funny as hell, she still reaches up and tries to scratch. Yep,...I got the last laugh now.
I like animals BUT if they can't be trained to behave, they gotta go!!!

I Couldnt agree with you more!!! Unfortunitly in that situation Im married to a tree hugger so she refuses to de-claw the little bastards because it's not humane....??? Shes compairs it to tearing my finger nails off. I simply say that if I were to cause the same distruction they do then she has a right to tear them out. Hell, I dont chit and piss around the house or tear chit up and Im the one whos pays the mortgage...What gives them little rodents the right to do it???;)

OK...Let me say that it is proven that those that torment or hurt animals often become serial killers....I love my cats and their companionship is worth much more than any material item....Don't let my husband lie, he loves our cats, too....He gives the cats more attention than he gives me and if anyone ever hurt them, he would be the first to pound them into the ground!! He knows that there is no further discussion about declawing my babies. It is like cutting a human's fingers off at the middle knuckle. I like the dryer sheet and moth ball idea. I wonder if it would work with our dog to keep him away from certain things in the house. We have a very small dog who is so sweet, but he has not figured out that you go to the bathroom outside!! We need help with him more than the cats..................

If marking territory is the problem then spray or whatever works (i.e. dryer sheets). My wife is the same with respect to declawing our cats. We had the first one declawed in the front before she found about the middle knuckle deal. Now we glue claw covers on. You buy a bag of them, shoot a little super glue into the claw cover and slip it over the claw. They last awhile and then need replacing. Our cats aren't terribly destructive but with two new recliners I wasn't taking any chances.

All of the cats are adorable!! I could have 500 cats if only my hubby would let me. There is just something great about the companionship of a cat. My cats seem to think they are human. They even try to sleep in the crib with the baby!! :-) to all cat lovers!!

If you were reading a newspaper they will crawl up on it to get your full attention. One of my felines would NEVER sit in my lap, that is untill I got my first computer and was spending so much time on it that was the only way it could get attention. Now it's a full time lapcat.:D
