In 1977 H. Pipkorn built me a Ventura II that would handle my Evinrude 200. It was heavy and had a bigger "Hook" than stock. The folks at Land & Sea told me they blew over two Venturas at around 88 mph, they recommended not to exceed mid 80s. So I was contented flying it at 85mph. One very windy day I trimmed it down, still had no problem running 85. To make a long story short, after some tweaking on good days I got 91 mph trimmed in, and it felt very stable, even in rough water. Ron Baker barely beat me at Fox Lake drags with his lightened Stream/235 OMC. I hope this helps you Ventura lovers, which I think is the ultimate boat of all time. If there are any questions feel free to get in touch.

You and Laker need to talk :) It is a great hull. His is running pretty good now although a year late and still 2 cyl short ;)

I looked up Laker, Ventura II/V4?? Unfotunately I sold both my Venturas. Bought a Ultra Light Vector (335lb). It was running 93 with an alky V4. Put my 200 on it, got sick and haven't had it in the water. Too old now, maybe I'll put a 50 on it and use it for fishing. Glad to see someone working on the crossflows.

We had a Vamp years ago. We actually sold it, finally, adout 3 years ago. Great river boat, handled Mississippi river barge wake better that a 20 footer. I was led to believe that this was the same hull or similar

The only differences I know of are the deck and transom height. Ventura being 22" Vamp 20 1/2".
