You are so right C18, wish it was C20...
Working to get impeller right...
Got to get the N2 rpms up and torque down...
Started with A impeller, over torque...
Just tried E impeller, 57 mph GPS, N1 100%, N2 60%, Torque 75%
What is your back ground ? Let me know Matt

Looking very sweet there.
I guess the impellor selection is key at this stage.

I had my annual "Chilifest" on the weekend and Mark Nye Stopped in with his Squirt 2 t-58 beast. Nothing like waking up the neighbors with an afterdark afterburner show! Those boats are cool even sitting on the trailer
I think they must have thought people were arriving by helicopter! hehe
very very cool
I could listen to that thing spool up all day and not get tired of it

Cheers

Greetings Everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!! Matt,,, You have a very interesting project going on there ...... My experience on these motors spans about 10 yrs in the Helicopter Business as an A&P.......... All line maintenance stuff ...... You know ,,, Trouble shooting systems, hot section changes , engine changes & Trimming ..... just about everything short of Overhaul ..... Alot of right seat time working on torque and temp problems as well ........ Our C18's issues were usually TOT Related, as we would always seem to temp out before max torque could be reached ....... The C20's on the other hand with upgraded hot sections & compressors would usually torque out ...... I'm sure your well verses in all this, but anyway that's my backround in it ............ Keep us informed, that's neat stuff ......... Bruce.

Pictures of turbine boats are bordering on erotic!

I was just showing some students a C18 yesterday and they were begging me to start it, but I didn't have the proper authority. We then watched students inspecting and tagging C18 assemblies and parts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a C20 is beyond the reach of most of us, while surplus C18s can be had for around $US9000.

There is nothing sweeter than the sound of a turbine starting. You should hear an F404 (F-18) engine start, drool!

Very nice rig by the way. Why the IR supressors? Why not Bell helicopter bunny funnels, they would look cool!

A short distance from Lake Tekapo is sheep station, Irishman Creek Station. An early colour image of a Hamilton jet boat tackling a South Island river.

Great looking ride. You need to bring it to the Lake Kerr rally on June 27-29. For more info check out in events / racing. Isn't that an Avenger hull?

I just got an Allison T63-A-700(250C10D) at an auction. The engine has been stored(not very well) for many years and needs to be gone through. My winter project. Not sure what hull to put it into yet. Could any turbine heads out there tell me the difference btw the C18 and the C10.

Thanks,
ryan
