Just thought you guys would get a kick out of this.
At the SBI/APBA/UIM sanctioned kilo runs last weekend the Fountain Powerboat team of Reggie Fountain, throttles and Ben Robertson, driver, set a new record of 171.8 average speed for the 2 runs in a Fountain V Bottom!!! The did in excess of 177mph in one run.
Ben told me they saw 180 at the end of one run as they were exiting the trap! Maybe 190 is on the horizon as they couldn't keep the boat at wot for the whole run. They plan on doing some more balancing and set up to the boat and so we shall see next time!
Ben said it was like running a big old Allison with only a couple feet of the pad in the water. I saw a video where both traps were totally clear of the water! What a ride balanced on a little ole pad!
I wonder how much pressure is in that little area.
what was the cost to run the kilo at the fountain factory

Have you seen OuterLimits owner Bob Russel's personal boat? I have heard that it will run over 170. After you open the link, click "next image" to see all the pics. This thing has open stacks with the exaust coming out through the top of the engine cover.

I was sitting on the west side of the bridge (only boat over there, and right before sunset) after the boat parade through town.
There were people all over the boats and hanging off the trailor sides, and in the back of the trucks and big vans with the roll up doors open, as they went back to the factory.
I guess the law over looks some stuff sometime, but it was cool to see all the race boats pulled through town.
Somebody had a "Boss Hoss" big block motorcycle, he did a big burn out every time the parade would move again........cool !
......but almost everyone on the boats and hanging off the trailors would wave real big and hollor when they saw the old 'stream sitting down beside the bridge.
I guess alot of them got there starts in something like that.
