i was wondering what the full throttle rpm range should be for this motor. i believe its a 2.5 liter block because i looked on the specs card that is attached to the fuel pump and for family it had this serial #, xm9xm02.5210. im assuming the 2.5 right in the middle means its a 2.5. any info on either of these would be appreciated.

Factory recommended rpm should read 5500-5800 maybe as high as 6000 but nothing higher although I don't have that on paper but I'm sure it's around that. We do turn these motors considerably higher and they live. Should be safe in a stock configuration the about 6500.

thanks for the info noah. apparently this motor does not have a rev limiter because i was spinning it up to 6400 when i decided i better back off. i didnt want to push it because everything is stock and i didnt want to ruin the rest of my summer with a blown power head. any insight on whether or not i was right about assuming the block is 2.5? thanks again.

It is not too bad for yor motor to spin it a 6400, but you may(if you havent already done it) want to think about unhooking the oil injection and mixing the oil yourself if you plan on spinning at that rpm. I have a 1995 that i spin at 8100, albeit not for long periods of time, but your motor should handle 6400 just fine.

hey jim how are ya. This is Dan Crisafulli (the young one). I dont know if you remember me or not but we had that little get together at the lake last year in october. Anyways we sold the 150 that was on my stream and put the 200 on. had it up to 78-79 so far on gps spinning a 4 blade 28 cleaver. i was afraid to jack it up any higher for fear of spinning it to fast and hurting the motor but now i wish i had just to see what i could get out of it. this weekend im tryin a 30 4 blade cleaver so hopefully that should knock the rpm down and get me over the 80 mark.
