I have an 86 200 Max. Thinking of doing some up grades. It runs, idles, and starts good. The plugs are always little wet. It is stock, but it could always be better. I was thinking time for some reeds and head work. I would like to just keep burning the 89 oct fuel though. There is not really anyone around who dose work like this on mercs. Any suggestions?
Thanks
:)

it's a good thing with the wet plugs, you know you are getting enought oil. as far as the heads the performance gain would not be worth the cost unless you cut them to 35-36 cc's which would call for premium fuel only. the reeds may add 150+ - rpm's sometimes with little or no more speed. i bought an extra set of heads to cut and saved the stockers so i could go back to them if needed. i don't know the cc's of the year model but i would think cutting just 2 cc's off would be pushing your luck with midgrade.i'm sure some of these guro's can tell you.good luck
