I'm thinking about a new tow vehicle. Need to tow 5000-7500lbs. I've driven the following. Like the Nissan Titan. Mopar is the cheapest.

Need the full size 4 door short box. What do you guys think? Does anyone have anyexperience with these trucks? My biggest surprise was the Nissan Titan its got everything.

All full size 1/2 tons 4 drs loaded:

Here's my picks in order of preference.

Nissan Titan LE loaded $35-40K Nicest of bunch
Ram 1500 Hemi nice/cheap $275mo. lease
Chevy Silverado $35K not to bad DVD
Ford Lariat loaded $35 K felt puchy

Spend $2k on a 70 something truck. Spend $2k on a 302 or a 350, and slap a $2k supercharger on it. Another $1k or so for a 5spd and a 3.60 rearend in it. A $2k paint/body job. Lot less than $30k.

I bought my new truck back in 2000, and it's almost paid for - $535 a month and still paying. Wish I'd followed my own advice.

Its a 04' Chevrolet silverado 2500 with the 6.6 duramax. This thing is awsome. It has more power than a truck this size should have. It would be a towing machine and Im lookin to get one for myself.:D We have some fords at work also But I have'nt Driven One yet, The guys say It's strong also. I've been a mopar guy forever but, I cant say anything about the dodges because I have'nt driven one.

In short..... look hard at the deisel's. Its unbeleivable the way they have them running these days.

I have an 02 Duramax Chevy 3/4 HD..Install the Edge Juice module and with that $600.00 upgrade you are ready to take her to the drag strip and run 14 seconds in the quarter. Awsome truck and still get 17MPG towing the boat or 21 my itself

I only get about 16mpg With mine. Did the module add the milage? I've never had a deisel until this and I'm impressed with the power.

I will have to get one for my own. This thing will put you back in the seat up to about 80, and thats when I let off... It was still pullin hard:D .

Put the module in and it will lay 2 nice black marks for 20 feet in second gear. It basicly just spins a little in first and then grabs second and away you go. I could tell you all kinds of stories about racing and pulling. I have gotton the same milege without the chip installed. but it sure makes it nice to pass cars. I am a dealer if you are interested. I will give anyone on the board a great deal if they want one. I would suggest the package with the gages and the dial. That way you can dial HP on the fly and get a total added 150HP to what you already have. If I remember right its an added 250 foot pounds of torc. That puts you up to 750 foot pounds of torc. Plenty of pulling power;)

If I ever have one of my own I'll look you up. The one I have now is a work truck and I'm not spending money on a truck I dont own.

The #'s you post are impressive. Can you believe the way the transmission shifts?

Mario Andretti, could'nt do any better. :D

Luv yer avatar :D I had that much fun once, before I learned how to reck stuff and ended up broken in a billion places.

Hey do they make that kit for the 2004, 6 liter Ford?? I just got one and it hauls all I can stand but would always like more milage and POWER . I am waiting for them to come out with the K&N filter for it and a good friend ( who knows truck and diesels) put a turbo fan it makes the air twist for a better mix? ( it goes into your tubing just before the intake but after your turbo and air to air cooler) and he got a 2mpg increase with his other half driving and not knowing about the test!! Let me know

thanx
Jeff

My inlaw has a 6.0 powerstroke 4 door, and gets 17 with a truck camper highway, 19-20 empty so far in a lot of two lane/mixed driving. The thing rips for such a big truck, blows away my older one.

I think you can only get a diesel in a 3/4 or 1 ton, not half. I tend to like the ford 150 for its size/handling for a half ton. I drove a tundra a little that was ok...otherwise I would get another oil burner and have a real truck for the same mpg on cheaper fuel...more resale too. They do cost a lot though. But I do lots of stuff too like tow cars, boats, getting a snow plow, etc. I think all of them are good, just depends on your use. I don't like to drive mine all the time and would rather drive a car. The F150 for example drives more like a car than the larger truck, easier to park or fit in a garage, turns sharper, etc., so it is not as bad. I always have a car too though so then I have a more capable truck I can park when I want but it will haul anything.

Not really advertising but will sell if someone wants. I still have my 2000 silverado and my wife really likes the new Chrysler 300 Hemi.

Buy mine! It's a great tow vehicle, still under warantee and you won't lose half your money when you drive it off the lot!
