i have a big water leak at high speed on a 2.4BP. checked all the hoses, exhaust plate gasket, pressure relief cover, base gasket, etc. and all gaskets are new. don't see any leaks on the hose. water gushes out the front of the cover at 6000rpms. how can i find it without trying to find it doing 70mph? i made restrictor washers out of quarters. would they cause the leaking? i only have 9lbs. of pressure at wot. should i restrict the relief valve hose to increase the pressure a little? it runs cool as is.

Are you sure it's coming from the motor? What boat do you have? How is it rigged? Is this something that just started? What did you do before it started? Is there mounted anything on the hull infront of the motor? Is there any way some one can feel it to see if it is warm or not? I would think if you have no leaks on the hose you would have no leaks running. I you want to check it take the lower unit off and connect a Garden hose to the water tube turn the water on all the way. That should be more pressure than you have running and look for the leak. You don't even have to start the motor. Greg
