I may be wrong and look like the jerk here, but there is a guy on ebay selling a 1997 Bisemeyer River racer with a STOCK 150 yamaha V max TRP that says he is running 100 mph according to his speedo. I think this guy would need a rocket up his butt to see this kind of speed. Just my 2 cents! it under BOAT and the idom number is 1142465381

He's safe saying: 'the speedo goes to 100 and I've had it there', meaning he has a VERY optimistic speedo or he hooked a pump right up to the pickup and hand pumped the speedo to 100.............LOL!! No way that stock 150, pushing TWO props can build the rpms to get that boat to 100! Make a nice toy at around $12k though.........hmmmmmm

I have always wondered about the yamaha 150 TRP V maxs! I wonder what one of these would do on a hydrostream 17 vector! Not only 75 mph but a 5 year warrenty and oil injection with not steering pull! May be the wave of the future!

I got a 17' Baja in the "for sale" section that does mid 80's when the weather's right... -Chad

John Tiger reported that the two-prop Merc V-6 proved to be quite a bit faster in testing than the same engine with a single prop (like 7 mph, if I remmember correctly; obviously also depends on the boat). In addition, it had no steering torque. I always found that application unusual because, in inboard/outboard applications, two-prop drives are for low end power and better load carrying, not better top end. Apparently, with the Merc dual prop outboard, the gear case can be run so high (due to the bite of dual props) that the reduced drag is very significant. Unfortunately, that engine has been placed WAY back on the burner due to concentration on environmentally friendly engines. John says it may come back but doesn't recommend anyone holding their breath. The 100 mph figure with a 150, however, is quite a stretch (maybe on a 12' hydroplane!)

Maybe I should sell my 2.5's and buy 150's
