That's a Merc powered jet back pack! What altitude can you get outta one of those??

Looks like a homemade induction plenum with a electric motor driven supercharger. Seems like I have seen those electric motor superchargers for cars somewhere...............nice pics. CALL 911 to put out the fire or remove the shrapnel from body? LOL.

Okay, we're probably being set up, but:

The front is just a plenum with the unit on top just a throttle body? As far as the what it's used for, some type of forced induction hooking to the throat, such as turbo?

Warm, or total miss?

JW, That is really funny. I never thought of that. :D

MTCM, It actually runs and serves a purpose. The only reason its on a boat is so I could dyno it.

Yep!!!

Looks like somebody just supercharged a merc. I'll bet that's gonna be on bad mohummer if it stays together. Even if it only gives a few pounds of boost at WOT, it's gonna stuff the crap out of that crankcase.

The first 1/2 of it is right. Come on, set up, would I do that? It really does serve a purpose.

Thats the only way to feed the air to the motor if it wuz mounted intake down in a vehicle other than a O/B...I wuz toying with a 100' dragster with a 2.5 efi, and my intake looked sumpthin like that...but it sho could be used for forced induction...dual pourpose application.....But if it don't work, it looks big enouff to make a good oil drain pan for a low slung vehicle...REX:cool:

T Rex is on the track and I'm not talking about the oil pan.:D

Would it help to see the bottom half of the engine?

Hey T-Rex,

I think it's a forced air induction system for that Baha race car also. In the car it would be laying down and not sticking up like. The top, front piece looks like a huge throttle body. He probably will have a ram air scoop and fitler box connected to it.

Isn't it the plenum off the Land and sea Turbo? Looks like it from the pics. You going to try the rest of it also? I would like to sea a dyno sheet on that thing. Never really believed that it would work very well on an outboard.

...it's nothing more than a debris deflector for swamp racing......protecting the motor from damage when running WOT through the dangling mangroves..? ;)

Am I right? :D

I went back and looked at pictures of the sand rail, it has a belt driven turbo on it. This is the throttle body and induction system for one of those Mercury powered cars. The engin will be turned so this will mount underneath the car, that's why the "Call 911" in on it. Because, if you can read it, he's gonna need help.

Look like a super charger being spun from flex plate, into an open plenum NO2 mixing chamber, Dont see any exaust routing so dont think it's Turbo. Whatever the Filp it is, Sure looks fast. You have too much time on your hands John, Take up another hobby, hey my room needs tiled. Sounds like a nice safe way to kill time..

I like BKs swamp deflector idea but I think all the bushes would hit you in the face before they hit the motor.:D Maybe I should build another one to put over my head. Well I guess its time to tell you what it is. Unfortunate it’s probably less interesting than some of the cool ideas you all had like turbo or super charger. I think that’s what I will be doing next. It looked so funny on the boat I had to post a picture of it. It is the intake from the S3000 Seadoo. In this Seadoo the motor mounts with the head up that’s why the intake is pointing towards the back of the motor. Thanks for all the great ideas. I’m running down to the patent office right now.

You guys are all way off......look closely at the first photo and you will see its a cordless rechargeable drill. A mikita or milwaukee would be my guess. OK...what did I win?!!!

That was good. We need more of these little quizes. Hee hee!

You cheated; you made your guess after I gave the answer .:D Raceman started these quizzes, I had a great time with the tuner quiz, lets do some more.

John,
I am still a rookie...cheating is necessary!
My actual guess was about the same as some others had listed. I had no idea that plenum was from a PWC. I never ride them so I've never seen one.

Have a great Holiday,

Its not just from any water craft it’s a custom made intake to fit a 300 HP Mercury V6 S3000 into a Seadoo.

That is a Ronco slicer, dicer, purator, juice extractor-nut grinder. They come in stainless, aluminum and orange. If you order by turkey day you get the added attatchment for making a nice smooth turkey broth. But dont stop there we will also thow in the Merc attachment which will let you turn your outboard motor into....A coul induction unit with supercharging capabilities.
