named Almaroad that is really good with the Yamaha's. The motors won't really run hard until you finger port them but they do respond good to bolt on's as well.

They are very good motors and can be made ot run pretty damn hard.

Good luck,

What I'm looking for is a set up that has good bottom end and mid range and will run an honest 100 MPH. I want to stay with pump gas . I don't care too much about top end running. It will be used for general purpose boat. The 100 MPH won't be seen too often , but 80-85 will. I don't want to sacrafice reliability.

The old fairing material looked like bondo and was cracking out. It was about 1/2" thick on one side and about 7/8' thick on the other. Maybe that had something to do with my steering problem???????

We have 2 very knowledgeable Yamaha guys here on S&F: Wayne Taylor (MADMAN) and Ray Neudecker. I am not sure if Ray still builds engines, but Wayne definitely does.

Markus, I thought Wayne was getting out of the Yamaha stuff and concentrating on OMC/Merc stuff?

How do the stacks work on the carbs. Look cool anyway. Ray is definately a knowledgable Yamaha guy. I like to get my boat to see 75 but it's gonna be port work now. What hp is that 2.6 your running?

It is a 225 HP @ 5500 RPM . At least I think that was the RPM. I need to pick up a Factory manual on it. I only ran it once before tearing into it. Just to see what it needed. I ran a borrowed 26 and it had a great hole shot . The tach and speedo were not working and I didn't bring my GPS.

If you're over 6200 it's probably unhooked but here's a thread on the wire location. Should be the same on yours . http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44080&highlight=Yamaha+rev+limiter

Where did you get the stacks on your carbs and how well do they work. I have a pair of 88 2.6 yamahas on my boat and am considering the Hydrotec bolt on mods. I am trying to figure out the best things to do. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it.

I don't know where they came from. The motor is exactly as I purchased it and I have no history on the boat or motor. I have a hunch they came from Bob's Machine Shop. I would venture a guess that they were intended for merc as they have been modified to fit with epoxy.

There is endless things you can do that block. The white wire isthe rev-limiter. My old 2.6 ran up to 9700 rpm !!!!!! Lots of welding and grinding and porting. 220 heads is somthing that will wake it up too ......
Let me know if I can help. Ray is a great guy to get the ness. help from.

I just checked out the rev limiter. It is already disconnected. I sure wish I knew what has been done internally to this power head. It has a decal on it from Tony Dukas Racing. I looked him up on the net. He is a Bike builder. The boat has all origional decals removed and Extreme Marine painted on the side.

I ripped out the steering today. I found a tooth ripped clear out of one of the racks and floating around in there. That was what was locking up the steering. Ordered 2 new cables, water pump and prop hub today.
